Tattoos may be a dime a dozen, but for footwear with bespoke ink, there’s only one man for the job: Christian Louboutin. The visionary behind those lipstick-red soles is at the helm of yet another bold idea, The Tattoo Parlor, in which a pair of shoes is crafted around the wearer’s body art. The process takes close to three months, but remember, good things come to those who wait. First, head to a Louboutin boutique, where design duties begin with selecting your shoe style (standouts include a sporty sneaker called the Louis; the Nigel, a street-smart high-top; and the elegant Henri loafer, shown here). Next, a photo of your personal tattoo is sent to Louboutin’s Paris studio, where artists will render a technical drawing for your approval. Finally, the tattoo is embroidered directly onto your shoes—a process that’s far less painful than the real thing, and voila—your body art now goes more than skin-deep.
